Cloud Cast
Cloud Cast throws moving cloud shadows over a URP scene. They follow the angle of your main Directional Light and drift with the wind. No clouds are drawn.
The pattern is FBM noise generated in the shader, with coverage and edge softness you can set. A height mask keeps objects above the cloud layer out of the shadow. It needs URP 17 with Render Graph and Depth Texture enabled (no Built-in or HDRP) and was tested on Unity 6.3 (6000.3.16).
Requirements & compatibility
URP 17 with Render Graph and Depth Texture. Tested on Unity 6.3 (6000.3.16). Built-in and HDRP are not supported.
Cloud Cast: questions & answers
Does Cloud Cast render visible clouds?
No. Cloud Cast draws moving cloud shadows over a URP scene. It does not draw clouds in the sky.
How are Cloud Cast shadows generated?
The shader generates an FBM noise pattern that follows the angle of the main Directional Light and drifts with the wind. Coverage, edge softness and a height mask control the result.
What does Cloud Cast require?
Cloud Cast requires URP 17 with Render Graph and Depth Texture enabled, and was tested on Unity 6.3 (6000.3.16). Built-in and HDRP are not supported.
